March 2023

Every story is different, an equitable society understands how menopause impacts everyone differently; no one should be disadvantaged because of menopause.

Our experience shows that when women have access to evidence-based menopause information, it helps them seek out relevant and appropriate care and treatment.  With the knowledge of effective treatment options and positive lifestyle changes, women can ensure they protect their future health.

Cultural and social differences can make recognising menopause more challenging for the women themselves and for the medical practitioners that look after them.  Every story is different, an equitable society understands how menopause impacts everyone differently; no one should be disadvantaged because of menopause.

With your support we have been able to deliver events with other charities to help reach audiences who cannot access information about menopause, the symptoms, effective treatment options and positive lifestyle changes online.

We caught up with the ladies from Afrocats, a charity supporting people who face social exclusion in Greater Manchester, to celebrate International Women’s Day.  We enjoyed dance from each of the countries they represent; Iran, Pakistan, the Caribbean, Uganda and more.  Supported by interpreters we talked about what menopause is like for them, recognising no two menopause stories are the same.  We shared simple steps we can take to help with positive lifestyle changes, discussing how we relax, the exercise we can enjoy and most importantly the foods we can include in our everyday diet.

At the start of the year The Menopause Charity supported Crisis at their Christmas day centre, where over 450 residential guests were able to access safe and dignified accommodation, nutritious food, warm clothing as well as advice from organisations such as ourselves.  For many of these guests, it is not possible to prioritise menopause treatment, so having a safe space to talk about menopause, educate themselves and learn how they can access support to manage their symptoms was hugely empowering.

With your support, The Menopause Charity can continue to deliver evidence-based information online, in print and in person.  Because everyone is worthy of better access to information to help them seek out the care and treatment they deserve.

Every donation helps us tackle the stigma and social taboo of menopause. Donate today so everyone has equal access to menopause support, and no one needlessly suffers.
