July 2023

A Birmingham cycling club is pedalling for The Menopause Charity throughout 2023. Gorilla Café Cycling Club aims to bring people together through cycling.
This year they are dedicated to helping raise vital funds, but also increase awareness so that more people understand the changes and symptoms of perimenopause and menopause.
A host of events have already been staged, including the Inter Club Charity Day on Sunday 2 July. Over 80 riders from clubs across the region participated on the day, with donations, a raffle and auction raised over £1,200.
Jenny Haskey, CEO at The Menopause Charity said: “We are thrilled at the support and generous donation raised so far by all involved at the Gorilla Café Cycling Club. We know that exercise is important as we navigate through menopause. It is also vital we are able to educate everyone so that perimenopause and menopause are properly understood. Raising awareness of menopause through fundraising and events such as this are a great way to tackle the stigma and taboo.”
With the Gorilla café acting as the clubhouse, the cycling club organises meet ups and social events for social riders as well as the more discerning cyclist.
